Letter To Parents

Conduct of Parents

Buckhead Baseball is blessed with wonderful parents and volunteers that make this league a great experience for all that participate.  The foundation of this league is centered on developing the character of our children as much as it is the development of their baseball skill.  This is a volunteer led organization with many individuals donating countless hours to make this a positive experience for your entire family.  At game time, please be a positive fan; your job is to clap for your team. Please keep in mind the chaotic conditions under which all are playing, coaching and officiating. This is also a time when your children are learning the sport of baseball and attempting to master new skills each year. In the best interest of your child and your child’s experience in youth sports, we request you to always voice support for coaches and officials regardless of your opinion of their performance. Coaching youth sports is a surprisingly difficult and time consuming activity. The volunteers who coach at Buckhead Baseball as a group do a wonderful job and are committed to providing their players with a positive experience. Please provide them with your support. There is no tolerance for bad behavior by parents while at the ballpark. If you have any serious concerns, please contact your league commissioner or the League Development Committee. As a condition for participation at Buckhead Baseball, each parent must commit to the Parent’s Pledge:

Buckhead Baseball Parent Pledge

Please carefully read each item. Each child’s participation at Buckhead Baseball is conditioned upon the child’s parents, guardians or family member’s commitment to honor this pledge.

I understand that fewer than 1% of youth sports participants receive college scholarships and that the top three reasons kids play sports are a) to have fun, b) to make new friends, and c) to learn new skills. I understand that the game is for the players, and I will keep sports in the proper perspective.

The goal for every child is to put forth maximum effort, continue to learn and improve, and do not let mistakes or fear of making mistakes, stop them. I understand that mistakes by players, coaches and umpires are an inevitable part of the game and that people learn from their mistakes. I understand that children are born with different abilities and that the true measure is not how my child compares to others but how he/she is doing in comparison to his/her best self.

I (and my guests) understand the importance of setting a good example for my child, his/her teammates and those they are playing against. No matter what others may do, I will show respect for all involved in the game including coaches, players, opponents, opposing fans, and officials. I understand that officials make mistakes. If the official makes a “bad” call against my team, I will Honor the Game and be silent!

I pledge to refrain from making negative comments about my child’s coach in my child’s presence; recognizing that doing so, can negatively influence my child’s motivation and overall experience.

I will remember that as a fan/parent, I represent Buckhead Baseball. I understand poor behavior during practices, games, or tournaments may result in expulsion from league events or activities. If this happens, I understand and accept that Buckhead Baseball has the right to enforce penalties for my behavior, that may include, but not be limited to, expulsion from any Buckhead Baseball affiliated event.  Furthermore, I understand and agree that if this happens repeatedly or I do not abide by the penalties set forth to the satisfaction of the league and its representatives, Buckhead Baseball may terminate my ability and/or my family’s ability to participate in the league or any of its related activities.
